It's not the first time Lidl downsized its American footprint. The chain closed its Danville, Va., site on July 28 last year due to underperformance.
Winsight Grocery Business reported that Lidl lay off 200 people at its Arlington, Va. headquarters in February, signaling its first symptoms of
difficulty. The company said its team was always analyzing processes "to ensure we are supporting our stores effectively."
