America's Largest Pizza Chain Is Increasing the Price
Restaurant businesses are struggling with inflation and labor shortages, raising the price of once-cheap fast food items.
Domino's, America's largest pizza business, discontinued its $7.99 carryout bargain in January and made it available online. Another
classic value offer will need to be changed, the business said. Mix & Match, which allows customers order two or more things for $5.99, is getting more pricey.
The delivery deal will cost $6.99 for the first time since 2009. Carryout customers can still get combos for $5.99. Changes take effect March 14.
"We believe that $6.99 is still a great relative value for our delivery customers, offering variety, great taste, and a competitive price while
also reflecting the increased costs inherent in a delivery order," Ritch Allison, Domino's outgoing CEO.
The chain announced a delivery driver shortfall and the pricing hike. Due to an Omicron variant increase in December and January,
employee sick days have hampered operations. In the fourth quarter, U.S. restaurant revenues fell 3%, and staffing remains an issue in 2022.
The price rise is one way the business is addressing the issue. Carryout Tips, which gives customers $3 vouchers for carrying out meals, began last month.
